UCB Particle and Temperature Sensor (UCB-PATS)
The UCB-PATS is a small, portable, battery-operated (9 volt), datalogging particle monitor for use in indoor environments. It uses a photoelectric (light-scattering) detector and is capable of measuring PM2.5 concentrations down to 25 μg/m3. The UCB-PATS is launched and downloaded from a computer using software which was also developed by the Kirk Smith Research Group at the University of California-Berkeley.
Stove Use Monitoring System (SUMS)
The Stove Use Monitoring System (SUMS) provides information on adoption of new technologies and their effect on cooking habits. SUMS are based on low-cost commercially available temperature loggers coupled with our fit-for-purpose processing software developed with the Kirk Smith Research Group at the University of California-Berkeley. By recording stove temperature, SUMS provides insights into usage patterns, number of meals cooked and time of use.
